When Is The Best Time To Plan A Baby Shower

A further great thing about baby showers is that they are fairly easy to plan, though deciding exactly when you should hold your party can occasionally present problems.
For first time parents having a baby shower before the birth of the baby seems like the perfect solution as you almost certainly will not have any baby gear yet and this is something that you will need the moment the baby arrives. But, a baby shower is also the ideal time for friends and family to see the new bundle of joy and so having the party after the baby arrives also makes perfect sense. So, here is some advice that you might find useful when making a decision on timing.
One benefit of holding your baby shower after the birth of the baby is that your guests are going to know the baby’s gender, name, and birth statistics. A knowledge of these details makes it a lot easier to choose gifts, particularly if the gift is something which you want to have engraved. Additionally, having the party a month or so after the birth allows you time to get back to looking your ‘best’.
Having the party after the baby’s birth can also work particularly well when the baby is not your first child as usually you will already have all of the basics on hand and your friends and family can focus their attention on buying those essential everyday bits and pieces like clothing and diapers.
But, having your party before the baby arrives means that you can be the guest of honor instead of the new baby. All eyes are going to be focused on you and you will be pampered. In addition, after looking through your gifts you will still have another month or so to shop for the items you still need. Of course many expectant mothers know the gender of their child and will have already chosen the decorations for the nursery so gift giving can still be specific. Planning for your party in advance of the birth also gives you something to look forward to at a time when you may well be simply wishing that your pregnancy was over.
Another thing to think about is what you wish to play in the way of games for your baby shower. For a lot of people games form a key element of any shower and the games which you choose could well differ depending upon whether you hold the party before or after the birth. There is a huge range of games available including such things as baby shower poem games and these should also be considered when thinking about when to hold your party.
Deciding just when you should hold your shower is very much something that needs to be done on a case-by-case basis, although you must not delay your decision on when to hold it as nothing can be done by way of planning until you have decided upon a date. If you are going to have it before the baby arrives then you should think about scheduling it during the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy and, if you decide to hold it after the birth, then you should wait at least four to six weeks after delivery to allow yourself time to bond with your new baby.
